Artists: How to End Your Year on a High Note
by Kathy Beekman, Art Career Coach and Professional Artist
It's important that your year ends on a high note so that you can begin 2020 with a positive mindset. Whether you had an amazing year, a rough one, or it was just meh, the following suggestion will help you move into the new year by staying focused on the positive.
Make a list of everything you're proud of in your artistic life this year. Start each sentence with, "I'm proud of..." and make your list. Go for at least 20 proud of's. Here are some things to think about to get you started:
1. Goals you met
2. Business accomplishments
3. Boundaries you kept
4. Difficult situations you dealt with
5. New experiences
6. Connections you made
7. Artwork you created
We all have failures. Acknowledge and learn from them and move on. Making this list will keep you mindful of the positive progress that you have made. Celebrate these wins when wrapping up 2019 and you'll find yourself looking towards the future with optimism.
Next step? Create a new list of goals and a plan for achieving them in 2020.
I would love to hear your 2019 top 3 "proud of" moments. And if you enjoyed this post, I’d be very grateful if you’d help it spread by emailing it to a friend, or sharing it on Twitter or Facebook. Thank you! —Kathy Beekman, Art Career Coach, ArtCoaching for You
